Pupil Wellbeing
At St. Catherine’s Nursery and Primary School we promote positive mental health through a whole school approach. We aim to help children become more resilient, happy and successful in all that they do. We have various wellbeing programmes taking place during the school year, that are all very beneficial to our children. We have a monthly Pupil Wellbeing Award for every class in the school and our ‘Pupil Voice’ is heard at our School Council meetings.
Shine from Within
This year we are delighted to be piloting a new Pupil Wellbeing Programme created by Mrs Downey. It is called ‘Shine from Within’ and Mrs Downey will be taking the classes! This programme is designed to help children build self- esteem, confidence, resilience and love. At St. Catherine’s, we believe that every child shines brightest when they feel happy, confident and supported. Shine from Within helps children to explore who they are, recognise their unique strengths, and develop positive ways of thinking and responding to challenges.
What the programme involves:
Children will take part in 30 minute sessions over the three terms. These sessions are interactive, creative and reflective (giving children space to express themselves and grow in confidence).

Our School Council
We are proud to have a School Council made up of 30 dedicated members, with one representative from each class across Nursery to Year 6. These pupils are elected by their peers and play an important role in giving every class a voice in school life.
In Primary 7, our council is led by our Head Girl, Head Boy, and their Deputies, who represent the school at key events and help guide discussions.
Together, the council works on projects that improve our school community, promote pupil wellbeing, and ensure that everyone’s ideas are heard.
